Memory Statement

My project is a collection of sketches and graphite drawings in which I drew portraits of my pet cockatiel through various stages of memory. My drawings begin as direct observation or through photographs of my bird, and slowly I rely solely on my memory for what I think my bird looks like. Throughout time, I remembered fewer details which allowed me to become more abstract and creative to compensate for the non-descriptive work.  The drawing above is pen and ink.
