myResearch Grants – Hands-on Classroom Training

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is pleased to announce that training for the myResearch Grants system, which will replace COEUS for all proposals submitted to sponsors on or after July 1, 2018, is now available. Hands-on classroom training classes will be running through the end of August.

SBU Southampton Library Presents : Jackson Pollock’s Mural for Peggy Guggenheim : Artistic Breakthroughs Combining Past and Present

Elliot Bostwick Davis, John Moors Cabot Chair, Art of the Americas, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, currently working on the MFA Boston’s 2019 exhibition of Jackson Pollock’s Mural, painted for Peggy Guggenheim’s New York City apartment in 1943. Her focus is on the influence of indigenous Native American art on the development of Pollock’s mural imagery.

Annual Incubator Showcase

The third annual Incubator Showcase will be held at the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) building located in the Research and Development Park located off 1500 Stony Brook Rd., Stony Brook NY on June 27, 2018 from 9:00am to 12:00pm. This event will host over 50 Start-Up companies from Stony Brook University incubators. The companies will exhibit their research/products, and be on-hand to discuss their ideas as well as answer any questions you may have. The event is free, but attendees must pre-register to attend.

Provost’s Lecture Series will host Rhonda Y. Williams, Thursday, June 7

Rhonda Y. Williams is a Professor of History and the John L. Seigenthaler Chair in American History at Vanderbilt University. Her research focuses on low-income black women’s and marginalized people’s experiences, everyday lives, politics, and social struggles; and contributes to the rethinking of gender, political identity, citizenship, civil rights, black liberation struggles, and interactions with the U.S. state. She will present his lecture entitled “The Things that Divide Us: Meditations” at 7:00 PM, Student Activities Center Ballroom B

Annual Incubator Showcase

The 2018 Incubator Showcase will present to investors, government officials, attorneys, business services professionals, and the public, and will offer a glimpse at Stony Brook University’s incubator companies and the technologies our entrepreneurs are bringing to the marketplace. This will be the third annual Incubator Showcase celebrating the entrepreneurial culture built here at Stony Brook University and the individual success of each company at every phase. This event is free, but registration is required.

Three Village Artisan and Farmers Market Partners with the Stony Brook Cancer Center

Linda Johnson, Market Manager for the Three Village Artisan and Farmers Market, announced the partnership with the Stony Brook Cancer Center to help raise funds for the Center’s Healthy Forks and Move to Heal Survivorship Series and bring awareness of the nutritional benefits and delicious flavor of freshly harvested food. The Market, held every Friday, 3 – 7pm, 93 North Country Rd in Setauket, opens June 1, and runs through October 26. In addition to fresh produce, the market also features local artisans who are offering a selection of diverse items. Meetings are held on West Campus every Tuesday at noon in classroom N 3074 of the Frank Melville Jr. Memorial Library by an official WW leader. Brief Exercise Study

If you are a healthy individual between 18-65, you’re invited to participate in a 2 week study sponsored by the National Institutes of Health to look at the relationship of walking exercise to fatigue, physical activities and autonomic function (heart rate variability). Healthy and Stroke Participants Needed For Walking Study

We are looking for adults with and without stroke, ages 18-80 years to participate in a walking study at the RRAMP Lab at Stony Brook University. The study will involve 1-2 visits, each between 2-3 hours long. You will be paid $15/hr for your
