Alda Center Climate Change Communication Workshop

The Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science would like to invite you to an interactive two-day pilot workshop focused on climate change communication.

Despite the strong scientific consensus that climate change is a current global issue in part caused by human behavior and impact, public attitudes and perceptions of climate change vary significantly. This workshop will introduce participants to a framework for identifying the different audiences for climate change within the U.S., and work on techniques to engage with these audiences through various exercises grounded in improvisational techniques and science communication research.

When: June 25 & 26*, 2018 from 9AM-5PM
*Must attend both days

RSVP at the link below by June 15.

Google Sheets Workshop: Share and protect your spreadsheets, rather than attachment to emails to get the data you want

6/15/2018 10:00am-12:00pm (Friday)
If you work with data, check out Google Sheets. With it, you can set up filter views to see only some rows without affecting others’ views or you can use new suggested Pivot tables (or create your own) to see combinations of your data. Sheets has many features you know from Excel: “auto fit” all columns in one click; auto fill data; use formulas like Sum, Average, CountA, and many more; freeze rows/columns; and lock or protect ranges. Sheets has unique features, too: be notified via email when changes are made, and, best of all, work on the spreadsheet yourself or collaboratively with others. This in-person workshop is in the Melville Library.
