Dr. Jeffrey Cohn is a professor of Psychology, Psychiatry, & Intelligent Systems at the University of Pittsburgh & chief scientist at Deliberate AI. He leads efforts to develop advanced methods of automatic analysis & synthesis of body movement and applies those tools to research and practice.

Cohn will present his interdisciplinary team’s efforts in developing interpretable, objective, multimodal measures of disorder & response to treatment.

Direct Travel/Concur Online Travel Booking Tool Coming Soon

Starting in December, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook Hospital and LISVH employees interested in booking travel on their own will be able to do so through Direct Travel’s online booking tool in Concur. Travelers can book airfare, train, hotel and rental car reservations, or delegate travel arrangements to other members of their staff. The system also allows for guest bookings (i.e. students, candidates, guest speakers). Training will take place on December 1st at 1pm via the Zoom link below.

Discontinuation of Research Central Travel Account

The Research CTA, used to pay for tickets arranged though Euro Lloyd, was discontinued on September 30th. In order to avoid out-of-pocket expenses, CTA users are encouraged to apply for the new RF Credit Card as the following services will be ending December 16th: Travel cash advances (with the exception of cash advances for subject cost and field expenses) and buyer-assisted Amazon purchases through WolfMart. Please note, RF Credit Cardholders may use their cards for non-employee travel needs.

Blackboard Access Ends 10/4/2023

Blackboard Access Ends 10/4/2023.

If you would like to teach in Blackboard in Spring 2023, you will have to request access. Once requested, please allow up to 5 business days for the course to be created. You will need to set your Brightspace course to inactive prior to the start of the spring semester. Starting in Summer 2023, all courses will be offered in Brightspace.

Scholarship Available for Individuals Interested in Working with People with Autism

Autism Communities, a non-profit that facilitates housing opportunities for young adults, is seeking SBU students to apply for a scholarship and subsequent work opportunities to“backstop” Direct Support Professionals. Accepted students will enroll in the “Introduction to the Science and Lived Experience of Autism” training and will earn an SBU micro credential upon completion. Funding Opportunity: Pilot Awards for Translational Science

Submission deadline extended through 15 December 2022!

The Long Island Network for Clinical and Translational Science (LINCATS) will be awarding two $25,000 pilot grants to fund innovative translational science research projects. Each project should be performed over one year and address a critical issue in translational science. The awards are intended to facilitate new research directions and ultimately result in competitive external proposals.

SBU Google Apps

Inactive Undergraduate Student Google Accounts to be Deleted – Tuesday January 17th

On January 17th, 2023, all inactive Undergraduate Student Google accounts, specifically those who left SBU before Summer 2022, will be deleted.

Google Drive files that were created and shared by now inactive Undergraduate Students will be permanently deleted, including: Google Docs, Forms, Google Sheets , Slides, Sites, Shared Calendars. Any non-Google files shared with you (Excel, Word, PDF’s, images, scanned experiment results)
