Art In Focus Lecture Series: The Slip, The New York City Street That Changed American Art Forever
University Libraries and The Pollock-Krasner House Present: In the 1950s and 60s, Coenties Slip in Manhattan was a haven for struggling artists like Robert Indiana, Ellsworth Kelly, Agnes Martin, James Rosenquist, Delphine Seyrig, Lenore Tawney, and Jack Youngerman. This cobblestone street fueled a decade of influential art and community. University Orchestra Concert on Tuesday, November 7 at Staller Center at 7:30 p.m.
The University Orchestra, conducted by Susan Deaver, will perform Coleridge-Taylorâs Overture to the Song of Hiawatha, Borodinâs Polovtsian Dances and selections of music by Britten, Haydn, Glazunov and contemporary English composer Libby Croad. Featured soloist is violinist Eeva-Liina Luukkanen, who will be returning to Stony Brook University from her native Finland. Tickets $10 and $5 (Seniors and Students).
