CELT Inclusive Teaching Panel Discussion: Storytelling and Positionality as Inclusive Pedagogy

Storytelling and counter-storytelling are recognized as powerful means for challenging unequal social relations. The concept of ‘positionality’ in academia and higher education contexts particularly impacts instructors’ teaching practice. Our panelists will discuss the importance of (counter)storytelling, self-reflection, and positionality in understanding instructor biases and their impact on students as a part of inclusive pedagogy and fostering connection in higher education classrooms.

New! Master of Science in Professional Nutrition Practice accepting applications for summer 2024 admission

This 17-month program includes didactic and supervised experiential learning courses and offers onsite or distance options. This program allows students with any prior undergraduate degree, and the proper prerequisites, to become eligible for the Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RD/N) credential. In addition to the Generalist sequence, students can select concentrations in either Advanced Nutrition Therapy & Critical Care or Integrative Nutrition Therapy.

Della Pietra High School Applied Math Program – academic year program for high school students

Weekly three-hour sessions where students will explore a variety of mathematical areas that will teach them about applied mathematics. Topics may include game theory, optimization, the mathematics of puzzles and games, computer modeling, mathematics of finance. Students will work individually or in groups on projects that will further their understanding of the topic.

Institutional Biosafety Committee Meetings

The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) at Stony Brook University is inviting the community to attend its monthly meetings. This committee reviews and provides oversight for research that uses recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules. These types of studies can include vaccine trials and cancer research.
