There are 3 words to describe the life of Tina Modotti: Love, Photography, and revolution. She just worked as a photographer for 7 years, from 1923 to 1930. But her accomplishment in that period of time is huger than what other photographer has done in a lifetime. In the beginning, Tina Modotti is an actress in Hollywood. Since 1920, she worked as the model of Edward Weston. In 1923, she moved to Mexico with Edward Weston and since that, she start to learn to photograph with Edward Weston. Her work at that period of time is always the close-up picture of flowers and insects.

In 1925, Tina Modotti joined IRC and in 1927 she joined Mexico’s Communist Party. Since that, the style of Tina Modotti changes to record the change of society and concert to Mexico farmers and workers. The context of her photography work changed to reflect political and revolution issues.

In 1931 she gave up photography and went into political work. She died in a taxi in 1942 because of congestive heart failure. Her work reflected her appreciation of Mexico’s working class.
