We did a pair of coordinated ALAR and King Air flights today, going to Prudhoe Bay.
Kris Hajny took this video, of the ALAR low approach over the Deadhorse airport.
Today was the first coordinated flight involving the Wyoming King Air, and ALAR.

On 2-27-22, ALAR did a Prudhoe Bay flight. It was a clear sky, sunny, poor-mixing kind of day, and smoggy around Deadhorse. Shown below is a photo that shows an NO2-haze layer at the horizon.
The flight track with color-coded CO2 is shown below, with the box encircling the greatest density of oil&gas emission sources at Prudhoe Bay.
The King Air did a great cloud sampling flight over the Chukchi Sea on the 27th.

Yesterday, Kris Hajny and I flew from Utqiagvik to Prudhoe Bay. All I can say is that you shouldn’t underestimate man’s determination to suck every last bit of fossil fuel out of the Earth, unfortunately. The first clip below is some views of the oil fields.
On the way back, just past the Barrow airport, we flew toward the Chukchi Sea. “Normally”, it is ice covered, maybe with a lead just off the cost, beyond the shore-fast ice. But not a wide area of open water. See the video.
Yesterday we did a test flight of ALAR, which went well, all instruments are functioning well!
We are hoping/planning to have the first ALAR research flight tomorrow!
