Hayao Miyazaki spent his summers at a mountain cabin with his family and five girls who were friends of the family. Spirited Away was inspired by the little girls, as he wanted to create a heroine that they could look up to.
The film, Howl’s Moving Castle is based off of a novel of the same name by Diana Wynne Jones.
The composer and musical director Joe Hisaishi has worked with Studio Ghibli for many of its soundtracks. He is well known for the soundtracks of the movies Kiki’s Delivery Service, Spirited Away, and Howl’s Moving Castle.
The studio was founded in 1985, directed by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and produced by Toshio Suzuki.
Studio Ghibli is world renowned for its beautiful hand drawn animations.
