Hello and welcome to my website! My name is Christopher Balzano, and I am a first year Master’s student in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Stony Brook University. During my undergraduate studies at Stony Brook, I majored in Biomedical Engineering and Applied Mathematics & Statistics with a specialization in cellular and molecular engineering. I am currently enriching my studies in this exciting field of biomedical engineering by pursuing a MS.
Of the various branches of biomedical engineering I have been exposed to, the fields of drug delivery and biomaterials have been the most inspirational in molding my desired career path. I am motivated not only by my captivation of biological systems and the enthralling possibilities that these fields could bring to the realm of scientific processes, but also their implications on bettering humanity. This has led me to a sort of personal philosophy that I feel is best encapsulated by a quote by astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson: “I am driven by two main philosophies: know more about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others.” It is my hope to use my education to help develop and optimize medical devices to improve healthcare worldwide.
