Back in grade school, I remember hearing about how the Ozone Layer was being depleted by the human population. The truth is that everyday we pump large amounts of Chlorofluorocarbons into the air, which erode the ozone layer itself. Chlorofluorocarbons are nontoxic, nonflammable chemicals containing atoms of carbon, chlorine, and fluorine. They are used in the manufacture of aerosol sprays, many solvents, refrigerants, and even emissions from vehicles.
This vision of the future is one in which Earth is polluted due to years of continued human influence and society’s neglect towards this developing environmental issue. In the first portrayal, the worst has happened and life Earth has become uninhabitable without the use of suits and hazmat teams are at large. The second image shows a transitional stage between today and the first image, where people only need to where respirators. Lastly, the third image is an advertisement that displays a popular item in 2035, where a suit is becoming more of a necessity.
Overall this future portrayal is meant to bring this environmental situation to the forefront of today’s issues. It affects every inhabitant of the world and trends have shown that the threat is a legitimate reality. One consequence that is most commonly tied into this is global warming. Even if we stopped all pollution now, the process would only slow down. So when is the world going to start addressing this inevitability.
