Mariana’s paper published in Genome Biology and Evolution

Congratulations to Mariana Rius on the publication of a big chunk of her dissertation work! Very exciting to have this out. The fruit of long efforts supported by the Experimental Model Systems program of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, and a wonderful collaboration with Josh Rest’s lab at SBU and John Archibald’s group at Dalhousie.

Finally, QPX has a real name – Hello, Mucochytrium quahogii

Recently out in Protist –

Erection of a New Genus and Species for the Pathogen of Hard Clams ‘Quahog Parasite Unknown’ (QPX): Mucochytrium quahogii gen. nov., sp. nov.

Congratulations to (nearly Dr.!) Sabrina Geraci-Yee @sabrinargy and the whole team – what an accomplishment!

Postdoctoral Opportunity! – filled but contact me if you’d like to write proposals

The Collier Lab is looking for a postdoctoral scholar, preferably with experience in genetic engineering of a model organism, to help develop new genome editing tools for the thraustochytrid Aurantiochytrium. Funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation’s Experimental Model Systems initiative.

Coming Soon in PLOS Biology

A nifty little paper describing the unique – and really fun and productive – model of collaborative science I’ve been privileged to experience as part of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation’s Marine Microbiology Initiative Experimental Model Systems program.
