Stony Brook Forecast: March 13, 2020

Currently, at 500 hPa there is a longwave trough over Quebec and ridging dominating most of the eastern United States. The trough is associated with a surface frontal system of which Stony Brook is currently in the warm sector ahead of the cold front. The ridge is associated with high pressure at the surface located behind the cold front. Tonight, the trough will continue to move eastward away from the northeast US and the cold front will therefore pass through Stony Brook. Lows tonight in Stony Brook. will drop sharply to around 40F as a result with clear skies, northwesterly flow, and no more precipitation expected. Tomorrow will see clear skies and northwesterly continuing with high pressure moving in, bringing a high of around 51F.
