Stony Brook Forecast: April 25th, 2020

At 500 hPa, the trough over the southeast United States has deepened while the weak ridging over New England is starting to move out of the region. The trough’s associated low pressure system is located over the Ohio Valley and will move into the Northeast, bringing about 0.1 inches of rain to Stony Brook starting late overnight. Winds will be from the southeast and the low temperature will be about 46F. Rain will continue throughout Sunday as the trough moves in and the surface low passes just south of Long Island. An additional half-inch of rain will fall over Stony Brook, with southeast winds increasing and a high temperature of around 52F. Rain will then continue overnight into Tuesday when the trough and low move out to sea.
