Hi there! I’m Da, and I’m so excited to share this space with you. This blog is dedicated to my journey through the world of black and white analog photography—a medium that has not only deepened my understanding of visual storytelling but also sparked my long-term passion for cinematography and filmmaking.
My love for photography began right here at Stony Brook University, where I took my first class with the incredibly warm and inspiring Professor Patricia Maurides. Her Intro to Photography course opened my eyes—literally and figuratively—to the power of light, shadow, and composition. That class planted the seed, and two years later, I’m still building on that same foundation with her continued guidance and support. Her care, patience, and belief in her students are a big part of why I’m here today, sharing my work with you.
Photography, to me, is more than just clicking a button—it’s about connection. One of the greatest joys I experience is capturing someone in a way that makes them feel seen and beautiful. There’s nothing like the moment someone sees a photo I’ve taken of them and genuinely loves it. That reaction? That spark of happiness? It’s a pure dopamine rush, and it’s what keeps me coming back to the camera again and again.
This blog is a collection of my explorations, experiments, and reflections using analog techniques. Whether you’re a fellow photographer, a curious creative, or just here to appreciate some visual storytelling, I hope you find something here that resonates with you.
Thanks for stopping by, and welcome to the journey.
