Pictured below is an image of the CT scan that changed my father’s life, as well as my own. This past year has been an extraordinarily difficult one for my family, as many others can relate to. Our lives have radically changes as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but to make matters worse my father suffered from a stroke this July. Although the situation could have went far worse, the event itself was terrifying. The image attached is the CT scan I was given after driving my father to the Radiology facility, where I was subsequently told he would need to be admitted into the emergency room as soon as possible. These words shook me to my core.
Months later I find myself reminiscing, thankful that most of the fallout from the stroke has subsided. The scan now appears as a timestamp of a scary past; a visage that reminds me how fragile the human brain really is.
