Research Interests

My research centers on the ways in which identity-related experiences can impact individual and relational well-being among LGBTQ+ populations. For example, I examine how minority stress (e.g., internalized homophobia) can negatively impact one’s mental health and present unique challenges to healthy relationship functioning. I also consider the extent to which certain factors (e.g., social support, positive identity) may buffer minority stress and promote positive psychosocial outcomes among LGBTQ+ people. Finally, I am interested in contextual factors that can impact close relationships, including intimate behaviors (e.g., affectionate touch), need fulfillment, dating stress, and intimate partner violence.
