It is common for someone to suffer from depression throughout their life at least once. In fact, approximately eight percent of the population will go through a type of clinical depression (Keller 9). People with depression experience prolonged sadness and dissatisfaction, often in episodes at a time. In addition, depression can lead to a loss of interest in enjoyable activities and slow down physical and mental tasks (Kanter et al. 3).
I see depression as a condition that heavily impacts the way people perceive and view the world. For instance, the lack of motivation, loss of interest, and depressive mood lead to a duller and less lively perception of the world. Furthermore, it should be noted that depressive episodes could be triggered or completely spontaneous.
