Artist Statement

I am a student at Stony Brook University. I am a Multi-Disciplinary Studies Student with concentrations in Art, Music, and English. I am going to graduate this May 2020. Also, I am minoring in English and Studio Arts. My mediums as a multi-media student includes collage, drawing, and watercolor. The different kinds of drawings that I have developed uses my printing skills as a way of bringing out myself. This involves using bright colors and various themes. I like to make art into something that expresses emotion and vibrant colors. I have “dabbled” in landscapes, animals, and people, and different kinds of reflections in black and white drawings of things that catches my eye. I also am interested in photography. I have photographed scenes that are by the water, in the woods, in workshops, and in my classes. I have made a portfolio in order to show the kind of brilliant images that I have created. My technical sources include watercolor, colored pencils, magic markers, pencils, charcoal, and medias that challenge my artistic “formulas”. Unlike math, I can use my invented formulas to determine my next artwork. I take pictures of different areas of interest and like to use photoshop to alter them. I am filming a documentary on endangered species by using my iPhone to take pictures of my subjects in living color. I can make what I choose because my drawings are very life-like. I am an entrepreneur-enthusiast of going to art exhibits, concerts, museums, and I even volunteer at an art gallery in Patchogue, NY. I belong to a watercolor club at St. Sylvester’s church in Medford, NY. I was born and raised on Long Island and have lived here all my life. I like to hike and take in my surroundings. These are living artworks to the naked eye and it inspires my work. Picasso and Van Gogh who are my favorite artists. Their masterpieces inspire me!
