“Skinned” 20″x24″ Acrylic on Canvas
Skinned is a piece inspired by Dr. Karina Yager and her research on climate change and its impacts on the Andes Mountains. My painting focuses on the history and layers of a glacier as it melts. The brown represents the runoff and the soil that is left as a result of climate change. Underneath this layer is a spine looking pattern that reveals the initial colors of the glacier thousands of years ago. Skinned exposes the reality of our changing world and the effects it has to the environment.
