self-portraiture series (b&w)

This is a series of black & white self-portraits I did from the comfort of my bedroom.  I made good use of my surroundings – with my white door as my background and a wooden chair as my “tripod,” – no makeup, and just-left-the-shower hair to get the “plain” feeling I wanted.  Black and white photography allows the artist to focus on contrast and shapes, which gave me the idea of this plain and natural photo series.  Additionally, it’s often hard for women to find themselves naturally beautiful, including myself, and that became a challenge that the artist in me couldn’t refuse.
