Summer 2014 Zhongnan University Scholarship Program in Wuhan, China

 

Program Type: Group experience led by SBU faculty

Dates:May 25th – June 22nd, 2014

Program Description: Participants will receive a scholarship from and be hosted by Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL), partner university of SBU’s Confucius Institute. ZUEL is located in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province and one of the most ancient cities in China. Wuhan is a huge political, economic, and cultural hub – the biggest financial, industrial, and commercial centers in Central China. With its intriguing contrast of old and new, Wuhan is attractive to international visitors.

Undergraduate Courses Offered:  Participants will take a 6 credit Chinese Language and Culture course fulfilling SBU’s Skill 3 requirement, as well as DEC J or DEC G.

Living Arrangements:  Residence hall-style housing

Health Insurance:  International coverage through the SUNY provider, HTH Worldwide, is mandatory and included in the Program Fee

Program Costs

    • $60 Application Processing Fee
    • $200 Administrative Fee (non-refundable)
    • Tuition costs: $245 per credit for New York residents, $742 per credit for non-residents
    • $800 Program Fee: (This fee has been subsidized by Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. It includes room, 3 meals per day, group excursions, and international health insurance.)
    • Airfare: All participants will fly as a group. Upon acceptance, students will be given the necessary flight information and will purchase tickets individually. Students are encouraged to book early to secure the best price.

Eligibility:

  • Language proficiency is NOT required.
  • All undergraduate college students in good academic standing may apply.

  • Applicants are notified of an admissions decision on a rolling basis, so the sooner one applies, the sooner one can receive a decision!
  • Late applications considered at the Program Director’s discretion.
