Stony Brook University Cricket Club is an Intramural Sporting team that allows fans and newcomers alike to enjoy the world famous sport of Cricket. Cricket is the second most played sport in the entire world by sporting population, especially in subcontinent countries like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka. However, in the United States it is seldom ever mentioned in typical sporting media. In addition, there are no NCAA sanctioned Cricket teams around the United States, requiring students to form club teams, these club teams combine to playin the ACCL (American College Cricket League). The Stony Brook cricket team, while providing an opportunity to many to play the sport they love so much, also serves as a tool to educate students on campus about a sport that means so much to some people. Their website states “No experience necessary” meaning that all it requires for someone to join this club and be educated, is a passion for the sport.
