Use of GPUs Everywhere at SBU Meeting

Dear Colleague,

You are cordially invited to attend an informal meeting to discuss the use of GPUs in all type of research domains at Stony Brook. It will take place on Monday March 7, from 11:30am to 1pm in the seminar room at IACS building. Lunch will be served (if you have special dietary requirements, please let us know).

Accelerators such as GPUs offer unprecedented application performance by executing compute-intensive portions of an application at exceptionally high speed. However, applications must be adapted to make good use of GPUs, possibly by inserting CUDA commands, or by using portable compiler directives as provided by OpenACC and, more recently, by OpenMP.

The purpose of this meeting is to find out more about how GPUs are already being used in research, how faculty would like to use them in future, and to begin a discussion on how to facilitate their adoption in research activities at Stony Brook. Attendees are welcome to bring a few slides to describe their research activities.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP as soon as possible to Dounia Khaldi (dounia.khaldi@stonybrook.edu).

Looking forward to seeing you all,
Barbara Chapman & Klaus Mueller
