  • In this series of collagraphs, I am making work that relates directly to environmental tragedies that many of us have experienced in our lives.  To make the plates I experimented with white house paint and gravel in order to create a high relief. This created a nice level of embossment to the paper. The work connects to the burdens that many communities are facing because of the ecological disasters spawned by manufacturing, our reliance on fossil fuel, and our consumerism. In these prints I show others my experiences and thoughts on industry and their connected operations. This is the atmosphere that serves as a backdrop to much of the world. There are so many hidden tragedies that I have stumbled upon firsthand throughout my life. I have reproduced in these art works, the feelings that I had when coming across these scars in the beauty of nature.
