This triptych depicts the superstition in which one should not have mirrors directly in front of one’s bed. It is believed that mirrors are portals to another world and spirits may pass through and suck one’s soul. The three phases show the process in which a covered mirror is slowly uncovered through ripping and exposing what is supposedly reflected by the mirror.
