Movement Ecology

The Frisk Laboratory utilizes acoustic telemetry technology to track movement of target species caught off but not limited of the Long Island coast. Fish are surgically tagged with transmitters that have a unique ID. When they pass near an acoustic receiver, it picks up that fish’s known ID, date, and time at the known location of the receiver.
