We recently partnered with the Center for Science and Math Education to purchase new furniture for Life Science classrooms 054, 058 and 060. This week Jack Franqui of our Academic Facilities office finished placing the new student desks and instructor’s table/lectern. This furniture will be more flexible than the old, tired tablet arm chairs. Instructors will be able to arrange them in traditional rows, into collaborative groups or as a large conference table.

Jack from our Academic Facilities team just finished placing 6 mobile device charging stations in the public areas of Javits and Frey Hall. No more searching for an electric outlet – These conveniently located stations include adapters for most major phone and tablet manufacturers.
The pictures show our students, Jimmy and Harrison, getting the stations ready to be placed in the buildings.

Anthony lead the MSE team in replacing the instructor’s computers in all Javits classrooms (100, 101, 102, 103, 105, 109, 110 and 111) as well as ESS001. We will be replacing many of the HSC classroom computers in the next few weeks. These new computers allow users to boot natively into either Windows or Apple OS. By using your netID you will have secure access to all your resources and files

The MSE Team (Media Systems Engineering) just finished installing data projectors and lecture capture in Engineering Lecture Halls rooms 143 and 145. No more data projectors on carts for these rooms!

Library classrooms E4330, E4320, E4315, E4310 each received an upgrade last week. The Media Systems Eng Team (Rich, Rich, Mike and Greg) replaced the projectors in each classroom and upgraded the system to allow instructors to use HDMI from laptops and other media sources. Rich T also reprogrammed the touch screen media controller to make it easier to control the system.

Javits Lecture Center room 109 just got an upgrade. Greg, Rich T and Stephan have been working to install lecture capture in the room. The system will be available to all teaching in the room this Fall.

We recently replaced the data projectors in Humanities lecture halls 1003 and 1006. Previously, the projector lifts needed to be down for the projectors to be used. This exposed parts of the lift and left a gap in the ceiling tiles. The guys installed these new projectors on the underside of the projector lifts to create a cleaner look.
Greg from our Media Systems Eng group lead the team in replacing the media system in Javits room 105. Once the most technologically equipped classroom (it had a video projector,) it had fallen way behind. Greg designed and installed a system that includes a new projector, control system, computer and interactive graphics tablet.

Greg lead the team installing a new Echo360 appliance and highdef camera in the Harriman 137 Lecture Hall. We now have 43 classrooms with lecture capture.
