2014 Commencement

Another academic year over. Always a little bittersweet.  Summer is here, the campus looks great, but we have to say goodbye to several students who have worked with us the past few years.  We wish them all well as the go out into the real world!

The number of graduation programs we supported nearly doubled this year.  So I split our production team into three groups.  Jarrod lead the AV group as they set up 12 special events including PA systems and video-overflow sites.  Bill produced five, three camera live streams from the Pritchard Gym and Dini did her usual wonderful job on the main ceremony from the stadium.  This was also the first show where we used the new Ikegami cameras.  They looked great, too bad we had to take them out in the rain

Live Stream Concurrent Views:

  • 38 viewers   – 5/22/14 Doctoral Hooding
  • 42 viewers – Baccalaureate Ceremony
  • 64 viewers – Bio/Chem Convocation
  • 193 viewers – Main Commencement Ceremony
  • 32 viewers – College on Engineering and Applied Science Convocation
  • 26 viewers – Health Technology and Management Convocation

Stony Brook Announces new AD

On May 9th the University held a press conference to announce Shawn Heilbron as our new Athletics Director.  We brought in 30′ and pipe and drape, set up a sound system and did a switched, two camera live stream.  This was our first event in the renovated arena.  Boy I hope we get to do more.  A press conference announcing a division championship would be nice!

Congratulations to Mr. Heilbron – we look forward to working with you in the future.IMG_0266c

Stony Brook’s Tweetup to Support our Indianapolis Prize Finalists

On April 22 Stony Brook held a Tweetup to support our three finalists for the Indianapolis Prise.  Conservationists Russell Mittermeier, Carl Safina, Pat Wright discuss their work as followers tweeted questions and showed their support.

AV and Video Services joined forces to support the show.  We ran a two camera, live stream, sound system, ran video and stills on three screens and brought in one of the participants via Skype.

UPDATE – Congratulations to Prof Wright on winning the Indianapolis Prize!
