Organizations
I am the member of several organizations both related and unrelated to my profession. Some of these are academic associations associated with academic achievement during college and others are associated with my constant drive to further my understanding of history, sociology and gender studies.
Golden Key Honor International Society is the world’s largest collegiate honor society. Membership into the Society is by invitation only and applies to the top 15% of college and university sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as top-performing graduate students in all fields of study, based solely on their academic achievements.
Sigma Beta Honor Society is Stony Brook’s own honor society, is devoted to academic excellence and University service. Membership is open to students with no more than 80 credits who have, at the conclusion of the most recent fall semester, a 3.50 grade point average as a full-time student using the same criteria as for the Dean’s List. the organization goes beyond the academic life of the student, promoting volunteer work and social outreach.
National Council for the Social Studies, Founded in 1921,has grown to be the largest association in the country devoted solely to social studies education. NCSS engages and supports educators in strengthening and advocating social studies. With members in all the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 69 foreign countries, NCSS serves as an umbrella organization for elementary, secondary, and college teachers of history, civics, geography, economics, political science, sociology, psychology, anthropology, and law-related education
Founded in 1938, the New York State Council for the Social Studies (NYSCSS) is the statewide professional organization of social studies educators. Our members are committed to ensuring that all students graduate from high school and college ready for lifelong learning, engaging careers, and active civic life.
The Long Island Council for the Social Studies is the professional organization of teachers and supervisors at the elementary, secondary, college and university levels who work in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
