Temperature:

In order to maintain a safe and proper temperature range for the newborn, tests with fabricated skin tissue (or similar materials that can mimic the newborn’s skin) could be used to see how the heat interacts with the tissue. After the initial tissue testing is done, simulation with an animal that shares similar skin to humans (ex. pigs or rats) could be used. The next step after this is human testing if the animal skin tests prove successful. We must also make sure that the blanket is able to monitor the body temperature.

Accessibility:

Testing its accessibility, is a more strenuous task as it will require a large pool of people trained differently. These people would be separated into groups and placed in a simulated surgical environment with all necessary props, a lifelike infant with adjustable temperature and our device for instance. They will then perform the processes from the c-section to the warming of the child while thy are being timed.  Another important part of the tests is to ask the personnel of differently trained medical individuals to identify the function of all parts of the device with their responses timed and their accuracy recorded to judge how clearly the function was shown. After these series of tests and approval, human testing would be performed in a real c-section environment. The tests here would also be timed and the personnel would be questioned for feedback after the procedure.

Hygiene:

Hygiene can be tested by allowing a known amount of bodily fluids, or a substitute for a more controlled testing, onto the device and then proceeding to sterilize it. This cleaning process can be tested using trials of different methods of cleaning and storing. It is important to know that there are detachable items, probes, monitors, sensors, that can be removed to prevent damage of these items. To test the efficiency of the methods of cleaning, the device will be swabbed and cultured to see how much bacteria remained after sterilization. After all of these tests are done the most important part is to test if the device can be reassembled and still function to its intended purpose.
