Project 2: Different Not Less
My artwork is inspired by Phantom Limb Syndrome, a phenomenon where a person who lost a limb experiences sensations or pain in an area that no longer exists. I did a colorful watercolor painting of a hand reaching out to the sky and then disappearing. I used contour lines with fine marker tips to redefine areas of the hand. My work offers a feeling of release and letting go of a limb. I hope my art inspires confidence and reassurance in people suffering from Phantom Limb Syndrome. As for the people viewing my work who do not experience this phenomenon, I hope to have spread awareness and share more information about it.
