Healthier U Fall Fitness Classes Begin This Week

Fall into fitness this semester with Healthier U sponsored group exercise classes at the Campus Recreation Center! Choose from a variety of classes including strength training, yoga, dance and cycling.
Classes are free to all faculty/staff and non-members of the Campus Recreation Center will also receive a free 5-day pass to use anytime throughout the semester.

Ready, Set, Move! Wellness Walking Challenge is a hybrid program of our popular “Walk on Wednesdays” and “Walk to Win” programs with increased opportunities for encouragement, excitement and engagement.
Participants will receive weekly emails with tips to get you moving, fun quizzes and challenges, program statistics and much more. Whether you compete as an individual or as part of a team,

Colorectal Cancer Screening & Prevention Seminar TODAY!

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and Healthier U is inviting you to learn how you can best protect your health through screening. If you are over the age of 50, learn about your screening options and why they are so important in detecting cancer and precancerous lesions, and can prevent cancer from occurring. Both colonoscopy and virtual colonoscopy will be discussed.

WHEN: Wednesday, March 2 from 12:00 – 12:30pm
WHERE: Stony Brook University Hospital Cafeteria, Club Room

Seminar will be led by physician experts Dr. Chris Lascarides and Dr. Matthew Barish.

Healthier U presents Walk on Wednesdays & Walk to Win, Fall 2015 Edition

It’s time to dust those sneakers off and get moving this fall with Healthier U!

Stony Brook University’s employee health and wellness program, Healthier U offers two walking programs: “Walk on Wednesdays” (WOW) & “Walk to Win” (WTW). Both programs start Wednesday, September 9, and run through Wednesday, November 25.

Walk on Wednesdays occurs on Wednesdays at noon at many campus locations. Walk to Win is a team-based competition that allow you to walk anytime, anywhere. Only two people minimum are needed to form a team.

Participants in both walking programs will receive a variety of FREE prizes after only six instances of participation during the fall. The team that walks the greatest number of miles per person through “Walk to Win” will also receive awards following the conclusion of the fall walking season.
