For class today, we went to Math SINC site. It was quite a journey looking for this SINC site since I have never been here. It was in the basement and when I found the SINC site, I was surprise it was so big. There was a CoLa portion and a classroom at the Math SINC site. The Math SINC site is also very different from other SINC site because it uses LINEX operating system. Rose explained the TLT supports many operating systems such as Windows, MAC, LINEX, Unex and many more. After logging in, Rose went over the Final project for a bit; my partner was Jenney Chen and we are both going to do a presentation on Client Support.
After going over everything, we had a guest speaker: Jennifer Jaiswal. Jenn is the Blackboard Specialist and her office is located in the Union SINC site, room 080. Jenn has been working in Stony Brook ince 2002 and she uses Blackboard because it is more convenient. Also blackboard acts as a storage space because it keeps all archives. Once logged into blackboard, the content of the page is on the right, menu on the left and control panel on towards the bottom. Jenn also created a test blackboard site for all the interns to look at and edit, which is pretty awesome. As a professor, (or even a TA), people can get so much access to functions on blackboard such as set a timing for when to put things up or when assignments are due. Using the test page, we were able to hidee, create and delete contents and we were able to edit time and date for viewing assignments. If any professors call asking about blackboard, Jenn should be notified and as a consultant or help desk, we must always remember to ask for course information (including the recitation section) in order to help someone. It is crucial or else Jenn would have no idea which blackboard accounts are having trouble and which ones need fixing. I learned a lot from Jennifer Jaiswal today and to top it all off, I was able to change the blackground color on my blackboard and make it a little more colorful and vibrant.
