Interning Class Day 5: (2/28/14)

Today interns were suppose to meet at computer science SINC site.  This is another great experience because I’ve never been to computer science sinc site.  It was pretty interesting getting there and I realized that many consultants have not been at this SINC site so its a first for many interns.  We wait at the computer science SINC site for 10 minutes until we got a call from Rose stating that we were suppose to meet in the library room W-4545.  It was freezing outside so the journey to the library from computer science SINC site was harsh.

Once we got to class, Rose showed us a video about Customer Service Blunders.  We split up into groups and we had to observe all the bad costumer service skills the general manager in the video was doing.  As I was watching the video, the general manager portrayed a lot of bad customer service skills such as: not doing his job, not being professional, being lazy and rude and not helping any of his customers, but instead flirting with his customers and he is not useful at all as a general manager.  From this class, I learned a lot about customer service and going the extra mile.  As a TLT consultant, it is all about customer service skills because I will be helping many people (faculty, students, adults, etc) with many problems that I may not know, but patience and kindness can go a long way.  As long as I try my best to explain what I know to the customer that along with staying calm, most customers will be pleased. If a customer does get out of hand, I learned to always go to an adult such as Rose, Pam, Tara or anyone in the office.  As part of good customer service skills, I should also keep eye contact when I help others because it shows that I care and body language is a big deal when helping others.  As a TLT consultant and soon to be senior con (hopefully), I will definitely improve my customer service skills especially with eye contact and body language.
