Shadowing Week 4: (3/3-3/7)

Parth subbed out this week due to exams so CK was my mentor for my first site manager shadow hour for this week.  He taught me about the Consultant O drive.  I never knew there were so many useful information on the consultant O drive.  There were printer statuses for each site just incase site manager did not include the link the the printer status for their site.  Not only that, I was able to find useful notes on the O drive from other consultants who took the course.

For Ruhi and Danny Chung’s site manager shadow hours, I was able to take over the desk for a bit, taking attendance and answering the phones if needed.  After that Danny told me how to delegate tasks.  As a senior consultant, I cannot be doing everything so I am allowed to ask other regular consultants to run errands such as get materials for the site or give out paper work or just tell regular consultants to walk around and do their job.

For Help Desk, Diane told me to answer phones.  I was preparing myself each time, but luckily no one called. I guessed I am still a little nervous and anxious when it comes to helping a consultant over the phone. However throughout my shadowing hours, I did continue to take CoLA reservations, clean the white boards, delegate task to the regular consultant.  One interesting thing that happened during my help desk shadowing hours was that Diana Voss Valero chatted help desk. She was showing a class how Valero chat worked and how users could ask for help.  When I saw Diana’s name popped up, I got really nervous because I knew she was the boss and I was scared I wouldn’t be able to help her, but I was relief when she mentioned that she was just showing it to the class.
