Certain demographics of persons are more susceptible to developing defibrillator or pacemaker site hematomas than others.

These include: 

• Older individuals (Sridhar, et al., 2016)
• Individuals of Color (Sridhar, et al., 2016)
• Persons with underlying health conditions (Sridhar, et al., 2016)
• Persons taking certain medications, such as anticoagulants (Prioretti, et al., 2015) (Mehta, 2021)
