This is a photographic work exploring women’s education. Since ancient times, women have been required to obey male members of the family and not allowed to study. Even now, the unthinkable is still happening. First, the main requirement of a “good girl” in the traditional sense is obedience and acceptance. In the definition of the so-called “good girl”, the subject is not “woman”, but “man”. All these demands emphasize whether she can be a “good wife” and give control to a man, however voluntary and unconscious these “good girls” are. Even today, times and technology are constantly changing, but this kind of thinking still exists in the hearts of many people. The essence of “good girls” is the shackles and cages imposed on women by patriarchal society. Women should not be bound by so-called “good girl” education, women should receive good personality education and the right to choose, and they can also have desires and ambitions. Women’s lives should be rich and colorful, they can aspire to success, have physical needs, and none of these should be considered shameful.

My photography works are more of a kind of irony. Obedience to education and social requirements for women is like an invisible hand controlling the mind of these girls, which is no different from a marionette. The empty, helpless and even hateful eyes are an emotional portrait, as well as the sadness of not being able to get rid of the predicament.
