Michael Kenna is a well known English photographer that primarily shoots in medium format. What makes his landscapes unique from others is the way he uses long exposure to capture low lighting environments. To be able to capture these scenes, he sometimes takes long exposures as long as 10 hours in order to achieve the signature ethereal look his work has. I particularly enjoy the minimalist aspect of his work, where he relies on contrast between white and black, and light, shadows, and silhouettes.

In addition to shooting landscapes, he also works with nude female models. In an interview Photomonitor, Kenna mentions that he approaches nude models the same way he approaches landscapes. He looks for unique shapes and the relationship between natural shapes and the elements that we humans have formed. Additionally, rather than posing the models himself, he has the model pose in whatever pose they like. This allows him to remove himself from the scene and just capture what he sees.
