Log line: This is a story about a guy named Jake who goes to jail for possession of cocaine and when he gets out has to face a life of rejection and temptation.

Synopsis: This story is about a man named Jake Evans who has been in jail for possession of cocaine for 2 years. He is released from jail and has to get back to a normal life. He tries to find a job, but finds it very difficult for a guy with a record to get hired. He is very upset with his life. His girlfriend convinces him to go to a party where she promises there won’t be any drugs because he is worried about going back to jail. At the party he overhears a conversation about how the police are often called to parties at this house. After being at the party, he sees his sister doing a line of cocaine. Others egg him on to do the same. The reader then has the choice for him to stay at the party or leave the party. If one chooses to stay, the police breakup the party and it can be assumed that Jake is arrested again. If one chooses to leave, Jake sees the police pull up to the house while he is walking away.

Artist’s intent: This is a classic story of a man who struggles with a drug addiction and is tempted to use the drugs again. This story also shows the consequences of breaking the law. Because Jake was caught with cocaine, he was in jail for 2 years. Two years does not seem like a long time, but it is still part of his life that he had to spend in jail. When he gets out he has to get a job. He is unable to get anyone to hire him because he has a record. He specifically has a record for drugs. This shows the long-term consequences of breaking the law.

This story is also about how you should not do drugs. Although the physical symptoms of drug use are not shown the legal consequences are shown. At the end of the story the reader has the choice to stay at the party and do the drugs, or leave the party. The consequence of staying at the party is again being arrested by the police. This implies that staying and doing the drugs was the wrong option. If one choses to leave the party, Jake does not get in trouble, implying this was the right option.
