About Me

Welcome! im Jayden Morrobel a dedicated researcher and graduate student at Stony Brook University, currently pursuing my passion for biomedical innovation in the fields of drug delivery and chronic disease treatment. Born and raised in the Bronx, I’ve always embraced the idea that your background doesn’t define where you can go—it’s the drive and resilience you bring to each challenge that shapes your journey.

My love for science took root early on, sparked by grade-school science fairs that opened my eyes to the power of discovery and creativity. This curiosity led me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Biology at SUNY Purchase, where I immersed myself in research on bacterial pathogens affecting salmon, developing skills in molecular biology and gaining invaluable lab experience. These experiences strengthened my resolve to make a difference in human health, a goal I now pursue through my graduate research.

Beyond academics, I’m no stranger to perseverance and resilience. I played Division III lacrosse, where I faced a significant setback tearing my ACL and meniscus. This injury tested my determination, but I refused to let it derail my academic journey. Even on crutches, I stayed focused on my studies and the lab, driving to classes and remaining committed to my goals. This experience ultimately inspired my interest in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, fueling my commitment to science and health innovation.

Currently, my work at Stony Brook involves developing advanced drug delivery systems using hydrogels and nanoparticles to treat inflammatory bowel disease—a project combining my molecular biology background with cutting-edge materials science. I am passionate about creating solutions that could one day improve the lives of patients with chronic diseases, constantly refining new skills in pursuit of this goal.

Outside the lab, I enjoy inspiring future scientists and mentoring younger students at a summer STEM camp. Growing up with ADHD and other disabilities, I take pride in showing that with determination, nothing is impossible. I hope to continue pushing the boundaries of science to make meaningful contributions and give others the precious gift of time with their loved ones.

My hope is to continue pushing the boundaries of science to make meaningful contributions to society and give others the precious gift of time with their loved ones. Whether it’s through my research, community outreach, or simply sharing my journey, I’m here to show that science can open doors and change lives.
