Grosse Fatigue

The one part of the film I found interesting was when the separate clips kept stacking on top of each other as the sizes of each clip got smaller and smaller. This was one part of the film where the viewer could discern where to specifically look at, for a prolonged period of time. As the clips kept overlapping each other, the viewer did not need to move his/her eyes away from the center to catch all the motion. Also because each clip was placed one on top of each other, there was only one clip we needed to focus on. The voiceover during this scene of the film discusses topics that humans have created, such as promiscuity. When paired with the voiceover, this part of the film creates a sense of stability, because not only is there literal visual stability in the center, the voiceover lists themes or topics that we are sure of, or have more of a grasp over. The scenes of the film before it consisted of clips that often covered different parts of the screen, maybe with more than one clip playing at once, creating sense of confusion. The viewer may experience a conflict on what to focus on, and at the same time must interpret how they everything must go together. And since it is a film, each clip is time sensitive, building on the viewer’s confusion. This part of the film mirror’s the confusion created in the viewer, because it discusses the theories of how the universe was created, something we still don’t have a complete understanding over.
