What the above picture shows?  While the others look laborious and operose, shape memory alloy looks delight and easiest.  He is truly Hercules!

The question is ,what is shape memory alloy?  Why he is so powerful?

A shape memory alloy is an alloy that can “remembers” its original shape and will deformed returns to its pre-deformed shape when heated.  That is, it can be ‘plastically’ deformed like other metal alloys at low temperatures, but this deformation can be recovered when heated to a relatively higher temperature.  This phenomenon is called ‘Shape Memory Effect’.

As opposed to the shape memory effect, another property, which is know as superelasticity is used to describe the ability of the shape memory alloys to recover the original shapes upon loading from substantial deformation.  In this situation, when the stress is applied, it cause reversal phase transformation between the austenite and the martensite.

Therefore, shape memory alloy is powerful and owns superelasticity which prior to other kind of materials.
