I need to admit that this project should be the hardest project for me so far, and I am so pleased that I have finished it. Being a portraiture photographer is hard. At the beginning, I had some misunderstandings, for I think portraiture photography is only about taking pictures for people, and for their faces only. Thanks for classmates’ work, I have learned a lot about portraiture photography: to use different objects to represent people’s personalities. And here are my works.
This is my self-portraiture. As you may known that I am a fencing athlete. Therefore, I use my lame, mask and my sword to represent myself.
This is my second self-portraiture. The reason I use a camera to represent myself is as same as the reason I took this class: I am interested in photography, and taking photos is one of my favorite hobbies.
I use this to represent my best friend in America, whose name is Charles Argento. He is Italian American who graduated from Stony Brook 2 years ago. He is a Mets fan, so I use wine and a Mets cap to represent him. He is a super nice person.
This is a picture for my neighbor — RA Nicolas. He is a nice, charming person who gives me a lot of help through the semester. Unfortunately, when I took this picture, he went back home for Thanksgiving break. Therefore, instead of took a picture for himself, I used his dorm door to represent his personality. I thinks Nicolas is an artist. A wonderful friend.
Right after I got my new camera on Black Friday, I took these two pictures in NYC. It is hard for me to ask people I do not know for taking pictures. Therefore, I took these pictures without be noticed. It was a fun experience.
I think taking photos for people you do not know is interesting and hard. I am glad that I have finished this project, so I do not need to be nervous to take pictures for people I do not know 🙂
