Photography means the most to me is to record. “The meanings of photographs are provisional, but one thing is certain about photography, as this book illustrates and confirms: the medium not only compels us to look but to act. We reminisce over snapshots, but walk away rethinking past relationships”. Photography One The invention of the beginning, the greatest use is also to record. When photography was first invented, it was often used to document portraits and to document wars. There are many historic moments that were recorded by means of photography. Photography allows us to travel through time and space to experience and understand the situation at that time.
I think there are many precious moments in my life, so I need photographic records. These are my memories. Now the technology is more advanced, so I don’t need to carry a camera with me, I can take pictures directly with my mobile phone. I think that’s one of the meanings of photography.
Photography can document big events like wars and disasters. It can also be used to record our daily life. This is linked to photos posted on social media. Does this form of photography count as photography? Or, are such photos considered art? At this time, I have been thinking about the question, what is art? One of the meanings of photography to me is to express myself, which is similar to my understanding of art.
The photo itself has no emotion, it is the person who takes the picture and the person who sees it. This also leads to different interpretations of the same photo. People also understand photography differently. I hope to express my emotions or thoughts at that time through photography. For example, I would use a photo to express sadness, or to express an idea that is a call to protect the environment.
