Photogram Diptych
- This project is designed to give you an introduction to the enlarger and the darkroom. The
photogram is an entirely a hand–made photograph. It is made without a camera by positioning
materials directly between a light source and photographic paper. Create two 8 x 10 photograms that have a relationship to each other. Experiment with shapes, different transparencies and textures. Consider the interactions and surprises when layering materials. Is your work pattern–like, object focused or exploring an idea or concept. Consider a wide range of materials (props) to work with – such as botanicals, bugs, fabrics, personal objects, cut outs, transparencies of images or text, x–rays, negatives, etc. Begin recording your exposure time in your notebook.
