Task 6- Final Proposal

Project Tittle: Does it come in pink?
Proposal Description:
I love color so I know that whatever route I go in this project, it has to include lots of color. Furthermore, in recent years, the color black has been the go-to in clothing options for many people and I think that in this aspect, black is overrated. We have tons of other colors to choose from and it is a shame that we don’t choose them because they aren’t “cool” or “classy” enough.  The second inspiration that I want to include in this project is the idea that we never really grow old if we recognize that our childhood never really ends because it’s a part of us; it played a part in shaping who we are now.
To tackle the first part of my project, I will be using Taylor Swift Instagram page as a way to include color in my project. Recently, she has been using pastel colors (especially pink tones) to carry out an aesthetic that I am completely obsessed with. In regards of the childhood discussion that I want to include in my project, I thought that including the story of one of my all-time favorite character would be appropriate and that is Peter Pan. One movie that I think brings together these two concepts is Unicorn Store because it shows that color and childhood go hand in hand, moreover it shows the little recognition a big majority of the industry and society have build up when it comes to bold and bright colors.
At the moment, I am not so quite sure as to what exactly I’d like to photograph but I do know that it will include color (especially pink) and the magical sentiment of childhood.
Outcomes:
  • To show that colors other than black are cool and classy.
  • To convey the magic of our childhoods.
  • To not be afraid to be different.
  • Color and childhood go hand in hand. Why do we lose that excitement for color as we grow older?

Methods and Materials:

  • Items of different pastel colors such as clothing, flowers, shoes, etc.
  • Perhaps using some sort of watercolor paint to produce paintings to photograph.
  • Glitter.
  • My 8-year old sister could probably pose for me in order to emphasize the idea of childhood.
