Dorothea Lange

I chose Dorothea Lange for my presentation because she is one of the most famous photojournalist of all time and spurred the start of documentary photography as we know it today. I learned that she started her career as a portrait photographer for the wealthy but in 1935 she worked for the Farm Security Administration, turning her lens from the wealthy, to the poor migrant farm workers struggling to survive during the Great Depression. She travelled the United States from 1935 until a few years before she died from esophageal cancer in 1965 at the age of 70.
