This book contains the photography of esteemed photographer Clarence John Laughlin and is subtitled, “The Personal Eye”. An introduction to the book is given by Jonathan Williams and was first printed in 1973 for an exhibition in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The photography contained in this book contains an eerie atmosphere that is achieved by layering the photo negatives onto each other during their development. This photography instantly drew my attention, because these pieces were made way before Adobe Photoshop was invented, so I was very curious to know how Laughlin constructed his photography.
