Poem: “It’s Just a Dog”- By Sadie A. Gibbs
Overall
I wanted to compose a short story-telling sequence of Dawg. A dog is a pet, friend, and family member to many people in the world. A being that many would argue they could not live without. I felt that it was important to highlight Dawg for this project in a way that many would relate to. I was inspired by Duane Michals to incorporate text into my images. At first I was very unsure of how to display the text, if it should sit directly on the photograph, or below. I took my time to figure out what I felt most comfortable with. I believe that the text should be a help towards the story, but it should not tell the viewer how to feel exactly. I am not one to have a strong poetic character, so I used the poem “It’s Just a Dog” by Sadie A. Gibbs.
